Harrison Bergeron
“Now-” said Harrison, taking her hand, “shall we show the people the meaning of the word dance? Music!”

Optimism by Jane Hirshman
More and more I have come to admire resilience. Not the simple resistance of a pillow, whose foam returns over and over to the same shape, but the sinuous tenacity of a tree: finding the light newly blocked on one side, it turns in another. A blind intelligence, true. But out of such persistence arose turtles, rivers, mitochondria, figs— all this resinous, unretractable earth.
Winner of the reading competition. Moses The Champ.
One of my “White Magic” tricks was pulling sunglasses out of a kids ear. He was terrified. I decided to give him the shades. He looked better in them anyways.

Questions from Jon
Dear Kelly,
I have some questions about Liberia and the influence of America.
1. Do they speak much English?
2. Do they like Americans?
3. Do they watch Seinfeld or are they still on Baywatch reruns?
4. American Movies - Do they have the Dark Knight yet?
5. Do they get our humor?
6. Traditional African music or Diddy? Is lil Wayne big?
7. What’s the food like? Do they...
Soccer/Football
I have recently rekindled my love for soccer. Each night here I spend typically logging 6-8 hours of footage. During that time I have left the television on the local sports channel just for background noise at first. Typically this shows sports that are not typically popular in America. Cricket, Rugby, a sport I can only describe as roller derby but with bicycles, and of course...

See the good. Feel the good. Be the good.
Lori’s new mantra I am down with.
Friday Through Sunday Quickly.
Just a summary of the weekend. I am headed to dinner and will post pics and detailed story events later tonight. Here are the bullets.
- Filmed a four school reading competition Friday.
- Performed magic for a group of liberians and after scaring them a bit with my “white magic” I taught them how to do the tricks.
- Participated in a Liberian bachelor party. Became a member of...

The Smelly Kelly Sits Resting His Belly
Today was our first day of shooting. We arrived at the school around 7:30 and after quickly scouting the location got busy setting up our equipment.
Now anyone who has seen me eat wings know that it doesn’t take much for me to break a sweat. I think too hard at times and perspire. So the minute I stepped out of the cozy air conditioned 4runner I was dripping. And not like a 20 minute spring...

A Liberian Wedding in the Future?
Sorry Nick Cannon, love do cost a thing. At least when it comes to traditional Liberian weddings.
Today Medina and I were invited to a wedding this Saturday. Whether or not we go will depend on how much footage gets reviewed this week.
I have a tendency to ask a thousand or so questions when I am somewhere new. But I was curious to hear any difference between a typical traditional American...
Rick James Should Have Tried Malarone
Greetings from Monrovia!
I will sum up the 27 hour travel trip from yesterday by saying that it wore me out.
Not even an 8 dollar cup of coffee from the Brussel’s Starbucks could keep me alert/awake.
I finally did perk up when we arrived in Liberia. Moulton and Victor picked us up and drove us the 45 mins to Monrovia. It was around 8pm when we left the airport and cloudy. Liberia does not...

Travel Day
After about 27 hours of travel, I am exhausted and safely in my bed. I will write more in the morning.
ps. Driving through Monrovia at night is 10 times better than a $9 cup of Starbucks coffee.

Sometimes I wonder if Banksy is not a person, but instead a group of creative amazing people funneled into a name.

Attending SXSW is a great opportunity to meet new people, hear new ideas, learn lessons about past success and failures and have a great time. In order to get the most out of the weekend I spent some time thinking about what I want to do in the future.
There are so many things I want to do this…
